Apply and Reserve a Visit
To visit Santa Cruz Island Reserve, you must fill out a separate online application and reservation for each visit. These files will be submitted to the Reserve Director for approval of your visit request. After you have received approval to visit you must reserve your own transportation to the island.

During the reservation process be sure to review the Reserve Calendar to determine if space and resources are available for your requested dates.
If you are planning on researching/working or using locations on Santa Cruz Island that belong to the Channel Islands National Park, you may need a permit. The Channel Islands National Park has new rules (2016) regarding use. Please contact the Channel Islands National Park Headquarters for more information on Wilderness Designated Land and review the website: Wilderness.net for laws and policy regarding use.
After completing your application and reservation, please contact the Reserve Director Dr. Jay Reti to discuss your request to use the Santa Cruz Island Reserve (805) 550-5341 (or jayreti@ucsb.edu. If you have not received a response to your request within one week, please contact our office staff.

Research Projects
Each researcher to the reserve must sign two liability waivers, one for UC and one for TNC. If you have more than one research project, a separate application must be filed for each project. It is important to indicate on the application the approximate duration of the proposed research project. Approved applications are valid for one field season only (from date of approval through June 30) but may be renewed annually. Please add this DOI : 10.21973/N3F08C to all publications created from research done in association with the Santa Cruz Island Reserve.
Visitors
Each visitor to the reserve must sign two liability waivers, one for UC and one for TNC. Liability waivers for minors must be signed by the parent or legal guardian. It is the responsibility of the group leader (the person who signs the application) to be sure that the necessary waiver forms for his group are signed and delivered to the reserve staff member who meets you upon your arrival at the island.
